Lauren's version: Scott's cousin Kevin sat me down one evening and told me "I have a man for you". The main points: He was cute (Scott is pretty proud that Kevin thinks he is cute), he likes Harry Potter, and he is Catholic. Christi and Kevin invited me and Scott to a number of group game nights to get to know each other and eventually I gave them permission to meddle a little more and encourage Scott to ask me on a date :) Scott's version: I first met Lauren at Kevin and Christi's house where we were playing games. That night Lauren got drunk and ended the night sitting on the kitchen floor talking to Christi in Spanish about how all boys are dumb. I thought that she was cute and I agreed with what she said.
Lauren's version: Scott and I met for dinner at my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis, Hola Arepa, and had our food and drinks within about 45 minutes. After we were done eating the waitress asked if we wanted another drink and Scott said no so the waitress brought the check. We sat there drinking water for another hour and a half before the waitress asked us to close our tab! It was a little awkward, but now I know it's because I made Scott nervous. Scott's version: We went to Lauren's favorite restaurant (Hola Arepa). I got there on time and Lauren was running late. I was very nervous because I never went on a date before. We had our food and drink and we sat talking for awhile. Eventually the waitress came and asked us to close our tab because her shift was over. I paid the tab and gave Lauren a hug goodnight.
Lauren's version: I knew Scott had the ring and I was impatient! One evening after going out to dinner we were walking back to Scott's apartment and I told him he could have proposed that evening. In the hallway outside of his apartment he asked, "Right here? Right now?" and I said yes and he got down on his knee and proposed! Scott's version: I had the ring for a few weeks, and Lauren knew it. Lauren told me that she did not want me to propose to her in my apartment living room and not with a lot of people around. She kept asking me when I was going to propose to her, so I told her that we would go camping next weekend. My real plan was to pick up some takeout and do a picnic. When I suggested that we do a picnic, Lauren decided that she wanted to go to one of our favorite distilleries (Twin Spirits). So we picked up takeout and went to Twin Spirits, the entire time I had the ring in my pocket. There were quite a few people at the distillery so I thought that it wouldn't be a good time. The evening is ending and we are going back to my apartment, and while we are walking to my apartment Lauren tells me that I could have proposed to her that evening. So I ask her "Like right here, right now?" and she says yes, so I get down on one knee right outside of my apartment and ask her to marry me.
