Staying in Portland, Maine

There are a plethora of Airbnbs, charming Bed & Breakfasts, and well-known national hotel chains in the area to suit all tastes. We recommend guests book lodging in Old Port, Downtown, West End, and East End. We will not be providing a hotel room block option due to our small guest list. Our wedding is technically on the shoulder season, so availability should be relatively high. However, we recommend booking your lodging well in advance to secure the best rates and your preferred location.

Rental Car

Getting Around Portland, Maine

We recommend renting a car. Both ride-share services (uber/lyft) and public transportation can be sparse, especially since our date is at the shoulder season. The heart of Portland (Downtown, Old Port) is highly walkable with many restaurants, shops, and accommodations within easy strolling distance. For those looking to explore beyond the mainland, Casco Bay Lines ferries depart from the Maine State Pier in downtown Portland, providing access to Casco Bay islands, including Peaks Island, Great Diamond Island, and Long Island. Portland is a bike-friendly city with numerous trails and quiet roads perfect for cycling. We recommend renting from local bike shops, such as CycleMania, Gorham Bike & Ski, and Portland EnCYCLEpedia (located conveniently in the Old Port). They offer various bike types, helmets, and often provide maps for popular bike routes like the Eastern Promenade Trail.
