It was Super Bowl XLIX Sunday in Los Angeles and Lauren decided to take up an invitation from new friend Justin McGoldrick to attend a big watch party at his house. The crowd was mostly Temple grads and Lauren hardly knew anyone there except her one girlfriend from work, Michelle Goldfine. During the halftime show, Michelle introduced Lauren to Ted. Lauren was pretty transfixed by Katy Perry's halftime show fashions (there was a lot of glitter), but Ted's charm and warmth was enough to draw her attention away from the spectacle. Lauren was impressed that Ted had the guts to ask for her number right away, and she vividly remembers writing down her digits in Ted's "Field Notes" memo book. Every Super Bowl they remark on how lucky they are that Ted was more interested in Lauren than in the game, or Katy Perry, or the infamous Dancing Shark. To this day, neither of us are football fans, but we'll always love the Super Bowl!

By fall of 2020, Lauren and Ted had settled into quarantined-induced domestic bliss. So one Sunday morning when Ted surprised Lauren with breakfast in bed, she thought it was simply another one of his signature thoughtful gestures. (Lauren is apparently so spoiled by Ted, the homemade strawberry sauce over pancakes with coffee, orange juice and a single rose didn't tip her off at all.) As Lauren enjoyed the first bites of breakfast, Ted starting looking under the bed, asking "What are the cat's doing under there?" Lauren started pointing out that the cats were on the other side of the room, and before she knew it she realized Ted was on one knee and had procured a ring box from under the bed to pop the question. Lauren said YES!!! and Ted brought out the champagne. Quarantine has never been so romantic!
