Flight
We recommend flying into PDX - Portland, OR. The drive down the Columbia River Gorge is absolutely beautiful (see how many waterfalls you can see right from the road!) and on a clear day you'll get an amazing view of Mt. Hood heading out of Portland! Hood River, Oregon is located 60 miles east from the Portland International Airport, approximately an hour’s drive.
Train
While renting a car might give you more flexibility with getting around and seeing some sights in the area - you can also take the train! You will need to take an Uber/Lyft/Taxi from the Portland International Airport to the Amtrak Station in Vancouver, WA (approximately a 15 minute drive) from there you will take the train to the Bingen-White Salmon, WA train stop (located approximately 13 miles from downtown Hood River). Travel time is approximately 1.5 hours. Ticket prices (average) - $30 - $50 Please let us know if this is how you will be getting to Hood River and we will arrange for someone to pick you up from the Bingen-White Salmon Amtrak Station.
Travel Note
The most affordable option that will get you there is The Columbia Gorge Express! Departing from the Gateway Transit Center, located approximately 6.5 miles from Portland International Airport, and which can be accessed directly from the airport via the MAX Red Line (4 stops) for $2.50, travels through the Columbia Gorge stopping only 3 time before reaching Hood River, where there are 4 conveniently located stops. Travel time approximately 1.5hr. Tickets are $10 each way, all destinations (To/from Portland)
Hotel
We don't have a room block here but the sooner you book the better - Booking doesn't open until 6 months prior so booking for June will begin in January! We recommend booking as soon as possible once open! Hood River is a popular summer destination and hotels book out quickly in general. This hotel is waterfront on the Columbia River with amazing views and quick access to downtown. We promise, it's not your ordinary Best Western!
House Or Rental
There are a handful of Airbnb, VRBO, or similar rental units around town if you're looking for a more homey stay. Again, we suggest booking sooner than later because Hood River is a popular summer destination town!
