Scudder and Lauren met at the turf field of Linfield Christian High School. Scudder was a team captain, and Lauren was a new student who wanted to run. “I remember she wore a really cute black tank top with a Linfield design I had never seen before. And I had never seen this girl before, so that didn’t make any sense. I thought she was beautiful with her blonde hair up,” Scudder reminisced. The two began racing each other during warm-ups, talking for hours in parking lots, and started dating a few days after Valentine’s Day and right before Covid-19. Scudder and Lauren maintained a long-distance relationship during the lockdown, even after Lauren enrolled at Dallas Baptist University. They would FaceTime at least once a day and send each other letters and gifts. “My favorite thing Scudder has sent me was a photo book he made of our favorite dates and memories after a year of dating. I’m going to keep it forever and add our wedding photos soon!” exclaimed Lauren. Currently, Scudder works as a full-time security officer at DBU, while Lauren will finish her Bachelor of Science in English, certified to teach grades 7-12 by December 2023. They are both exceptionally thankful that God has placed them in Dallas together and that there will be no more FaceTime calls. But more importantly, they feel blessed that God has brought them together.
