On a very very chilly morning in Chicago, Lauren and Scott got ready for what Lauren thought was wedding cake testing with her best friend, Mal. Mal wanted to stop on the way to take pictures on the River Walk in Naperville. When they got there, they saw a Christmas tree set up, so naturally, Lauren wanted to take pictures there. While taking pictures, Scott turned around, got down on one knee, and popped the big question! After that, Lauren's sister, Meghan, came out from around the corner with some champagne to pop. On the way to pop the champagne, we saw Scott's parents, who flew up from Florida to help celebrate us! Then, we walked into a steak restaurant and saw Lauren's parents, grandparents, siblings, and nephew. It was so special to celebrate with everyone who is so important to us! (We missed Jack, Ashleigh, Nana, and Grandma Tyrrell!!). To say Lauren was surprised, is an understatement.

The center stone in Lauren's engagement ring has been in the Tyrrell family for over 100 years. The center diamond was originally in a pinky ring worn by Scott's great grandfather. When Scott's grandfather, Peeps, was going to propose to Grandma Tyrrell, Scott's great grandfather took the diamond out of his pinky ring to pass it on to Peeps. The diamond was the center stone in Grandma Tyrrell's ring until November 2024, when Lauren and Scott started designing Lauren's engagement ring. Lauren feels SO honored so get to wear a ring everyday that has so much history in the Tyrrell family!

Our first date was supposed to be getting Chipotle and watching a sunset, but in typical Tampa fashion, Lauren was late due to never ending traffic and missed the sunset. Instead, they got Chipotle and watched Remember the Titans. They talked the whole time about their families, their childhood, and everything else in between! Right after their first date, Scott texted Lauren, "Had fun learning all about you and your family. Can't wait to hang again soon. Thank you for making the drive over, I really appreciate it. Get home safe!" After that, the rest is history...
