Travel Note
Great Barrington is a mid-sized town with galleries, shopping and restaurants just 15 minutes from the venue. You can travel direct from NYC by bus, though driving is definitely the easiest way to visit the area. If you want to be near outdoor activities but still have more of a "city" type feel, Great Barrington is a good option. You can pop into the stores in town, but also easily get to the trailheads at Taconic State Park and Mt. Washington State Forest within 15 minutes. Egremont is between Great Barrington and Hillsdale, and has several Inns, B&Bs and a ton of Airbnbs/VRBOs worth checking out.
Travel Note
Hillsdale and the surrounding areas are beautiful! If you're looking for access to great views and more of a "cabin in the country" vibe, grabbing a local Airbnb/VRBO would be the way to go. We're also happy to recommend locations based on our visits to the area, so please reach out if you need any advice!
Travel Note
Hudson is 25 minutes from Hillsdale and one of the larger cities in the Hudson Valley. It's also directly accessible via the Amtrak from Penn Station. There you'll find plenty of galleries, antique stores, restaurants and bars, plus a bunch of mid-sized hotels and Airbnbs.
Flight
Depending on how you plan to get upstate, different NYC airports will offer different benefits. La Guardia is the closest to Hudson/Hillsdale/Great Barrington if you plan to rent a car and drive, but JFK and Newark offer easier public transit options if your goal is to travel into NYC and take the train/bus up. Albany may not be as exciting as New York (sorry Albany), but it's actually a lot closer and a lot less stressful to get to Hudson/Hillsdale/Great Barrington if you want to rent a car. Unless you're planning on spending some time in NYC, we'd recommend checking out these flights before making a decision.
Train
Train: The Empire Amtrak line runs directly from Penn Station in NYC to Hudson multiple times a day. The trip is 2 hours. Bus: There is a direct bus to Great Barrington via the NYC Port Authority on Peter Pan. The trip is around 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Travel Note
If you'e not staying along the shuttle route, there are a number of taxi companies located in the Hudson, NY and Lenox, MA areas. We plan to have a few cars pre-reserved and available to our guests for the ride home, but we recommend reserving your taxis in advance where possible. Most companies will allow you to start booking a week prior and will charge around $32-$48 each way. If you're interested in carpooling or sharing a taxi, please let us know, and we can help coordinate! Check the FAQs for a full list and contact info.
