The couple's first date was at Punchbowl Social in the East Village of San Diego. Not sure what to wear, Lauren took a little longer to get dressed than she planned, so she sent Nitin a text letting him know she would be a little late (natch). Nitin sent one back telling her to "Look for the handsome man in the green shirt." When Lauren arrived to the venue (only 1 minute late), she saw Nitin standing outside the door waiting for her. When the two sat down for drinks, Nitin started the conversation first: “So, do you like bad movies?" Lauren: "Sure, like what?" Nitin after a long pause: "I don't know. I've never gotten this far before." The two spent the evening chatting, bowling, and strolling around the East Village looking at murals. They've been pretty much inseparable ever since. (They've also watched A LOT of bad movies together over the years. Lauren's favorite is Tammy and the T-Rex with Paul Walker. Nitin's favorites are Suburban Sasquatch and Dracula 3000.)
On their two-year anniversary, Nitin planned to recreate their first date with a night at Punchbowl Social and a walk to their favorite murals. Unfortunately, Punchbowl Social was closed — but the "Crushing It!" mural in the East Village was still very much there! When the two got closer, their friend Dana popped out from around the corner with a camera. Lauren totally knew what was happening, but she pretended to be surprised. While Dana snapped photos of the couple in front of the mural, Nitin got down on one knee and popped the question. Lauren didn't hesitate.
Lauren and Nitin's wedding is a 2-day affair in sunny San Diego. Now a destination wedding for the couple (since Nitin accepted a fantastic job offer in the San Francisco Bay Area), the two are very much looking forward to getting back to their old San Diego stomping grounds in November. P.S. We can't wait to hug you in person and celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment alongside our nearest and dearest. SEE YOU SOON!
