In the winter of 2018 Lauren had happened upon a reddit post advertising a local lightsaber group called Penguin Saber Academy in Palm Desert. With her inability to sit still even while working a 40 hour-per-week unpaid internship and going to school three times a week, she decided she had too much time on her hands and showed up one evening. After literally busting Nick's balls in her first match that night, she was coined the "nutcracker penguin" and became a staple member within the group. When Covid-19 shut down California in March of 2020, Lauren began working from home and Nick worked with his parents. Life became monotonous. Thankfully, Penguin Saber Academy could continue. Outdoors, masks, social distancing. Even with those in place people could still meet, fight, and enjoy one another's company. Nick and Lauren grew closer and closer during this time until finally Nick built up the courage one night to admit to his crush on Lauren. Lauren reciprocated. And now we are here. Getting Married.
