U.S. National Whitewater Center
~40 Min away from wedding hotel ~10 Min away from the Charlotte Airport If you are getting in early on Friday we highly recommend checking out the White Water Center. You only pay for parking, and after that, you pay for any add-ons you would like to do. We recommend checking their website for Labor Day events on Friday or Saturday morning. Plenty of options from white water rafting, kayaking, SUP, zip-lining, miles of trails, yoga, food trucks, local brews, and bands perform daily.
Crowders Mountain State Park
~30 Min from Wedding Hotel A beautiful local spot with a special place in Lauren’s story! She actually injured her knee at the summit, which led to her taking an extra year of high school (boarding school). Who knows if her & Liam would’ve met otherwise! Crowders offers several scenic trails ranging from 1.7 to 4.1 miles round-trip, with a stunning overlook at the summit that’s well worth the climb. Whether you're up for a quick hike or a longer trek, it’s a great way to explore the area.
Birkdale Village
~30 Min from Wedding Hotel If you forgot to pack anything this outdoor shopping center has everything you could need. It's a beautiful high-end complex and has plenty of fun shopping and restaurants. Sunny Day Boat Rental
~30 Min away from wedding hotel If you would like to rent a boat for Friday or Saturday morning, there are plenty of other options! However, you will need to book early since Labor Day weekend is busy on Lake Norman. There are also plenty of paddle board and kayak rental options in the area.
