Shop & Dine on Thames Street
Just a short walk from the harbor, Thames Street is Newport’s vibrant main drag full of boutique shops, galleries, coffee shops, and local bites.
Bowen's Wharf
A couple of our favorite restaurants are located along Bowen's Wharf including including 22 Bowens for a glass of wine and people watching, and Diego's for a spicy marg and chips+guac.
Cliff Walk
Get your steps in and go for a stroll along Newport's famous Cliff Walk, a 3.5-mile oceanfront hike with water and historic mansion views. Check out the website for various entry points.
Historic Breaker's Mansion
If you have time for a mansion tour, make it The Breakers. Built by the Vanderbilt family as a summer “cottage,” it has 70 rooms, gold-leaf ceilings, and marble bathrooms bigger than most apartments. Tours run daily and it’s absolutely worth it! Fun fact, it's also where they shot many scenes in The Gilded Age!
International Tennis Hall of Fame
Right in the heart of Newport, the International Tennis Hall of Fame is a fun and unique stop for sports fans and history lovers.
Newport's Iconic Ocean Drive
If you have access to a car or bike during your stay, take a ride down Newport's 10-mile scenic path to take in views of beautiful homes and the coastline.
Grab Oysters at Midtown Oyster Bar
Midtown Oyster is a local favorite for fresh seafood (oysters) and laid-back vibes. It also happens to be one of Justin's favorites, even though there's a strong chance he'll order the burger.
Seafood at Clarke Cooke House
A Patty and Kelley favorite year-round. Bonus points for a seat by the fireplace.
A Rhode Island Classic Refresher
Stop at the sign of Del’s for a refreshing frozen lemonade, one of Lauren’s beach-day essentials. If you want to enjoy it like a true Rhode Island-er, skip the straw!
Sunset Cocktails at Castle Hill
If you haven't already caught on, Newport has some pretty iconic ocean views and the Lawn Terrace at Castle Hill Inn is no exception! If you can manage to get in (this place is quite popular), claim an Adirondack chair out on the Lawn Terrace and grab a quick drink. Note, this view is best enjoyed during a sunset.
Newport Beaches
Springtime tends to bring cooler breezes and fewer crowds, so it's the best time to visit any of Newport's Beaches. Our personal favorite? Second Beach!
