Heads Up About the Tail of the Dragon
Some of you may be taking a route that goes through the Tail of the Dragon on your way to the wedding. It’s an 11-mile stretch of U.S. 129 on the Tennessee–North Carolina border with 318 curves, no straight sections, and no guard rails. It’s world-famous with car and motorcycle enthusiasts… while these beautiful roads are one of the many reasons that this area is our favorite place, they can be tricky and potentially dangerous if not prepared.
There are many pull-offs to utilize if you need a break from the road or there is a faster car behind you.
Please keep in mind:
• The curves are constant and tight — it’s easy to get car sick.
• Drive slow, take your time, and don’t push it.
• Watch for motorcycles and sports cars that may come up quickly behind you or around blind turns.
• If you’re prone to motion sickness, plan ahead with meds and do whatever is best to keep you feeling good!
