5280 Tips

The Wedding Website of Lauren Raphael and John Vautier
Denver is 5280' (Mile High City!) and Larkspur is 6726' elevation which means the air is thinner and sun can feel more intense! Here are some great tips prior and during your Colorado stay: 1. Before your trip, and while you are in Denver, drinking plenty of water which is the number one way to help your body adjust to our higher altitude. The low humidity in Colorado keeps the air dry, so you need about twice as much water here as you would drink at home. 2. Pack for the sun! With less water vapor in the air, the sky really is bluer in Colorado. But there's 25% less protection from the sun, so sunscreen is a must. Denver receives over 300 days of sunshine each year. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm! 3. Dress in layers! Because the sun is especially powerful in Denver, it can feel much warmer than the actual temperature during the daytime, but then become very chilly after sundown. It is best to layer your clothing.
