After visiting Caye Caulker and Belize we found it to be one of our favorite adventures together. Plus, we selfishly want a few days with our closest friends and family to celebrate this exciting and big event!
The Belize dollar is the currency used in Belize, however, most places will accept US dollars. The Belize dollar is consistently set to 2:1 USD. Most places will give change in Belize dollars. We recommend carrying $20 USD bills and smaller while traveling and of course letting your credit card companies know ahead of traveling where you will be for hotel charges.
The short answer is yes. Of course you should take the same precautions as you would in any other big city or foreign country. We do however recommend avoiding staying in Belize City. Any other questions or concerns we are happy to speak with you about!
Though the CDC still lists Belize as an at-risk country for women who are pregnant or those who are wanting to conceive, there have been no confirmed cases of ZIKA in nearly two years. We of course support and recommend anyone who is considering starting a family to discuss this with their doctor if you have concerns. Ladies Suggestions: Light fabric and light colors, flowy, sundresses, midi or maxi dresses. Wedges or flat dressy sandals, the sand will be flat and walkable, shoes optional once the sun goes down : ) Gentlemen Suggestions: Light weight and breathable fabrics; dress pants or nice golf shorts in lighter hues, tucked collared golf shirts or short-sleeved button-downs, slip on shoes (ex: canvas/leather or boat shoes)
