There are so many beautiful beaches in RI. Oakland beach is near our venue in Warwick. We love the beaches in southern RI. Scarborough, East Matunuck, Roger Wheeler state beach are a few. They do charge to park just FYI. Narragansett Beach is our favorite, however it is challenging to get on during the day. We recommend going to this beach after 5 so you can park and walk on easier. Pack some food and enjoy the views.
Newport is a great place to explore in the summer. It has great restaurants and lots of shops. It is right on the water and if you want to take a boat tour this is where you want to be. FYI It does get very busy in the summer months and parking can be tricky, but there are paid lots downtown and street parking if available.
There are many Breweries that we like around RI. Here are a few of our favorites 1. Whaler's Brewing Company: 1174 Kingstown Rd. South Kingstown, RI 02879 2. Tilted Barn Brewery: One Hemsley Pl. Exeter, RI 02822 3. Proclamation Brewing: 298 Kilvert St. Warwick, RI 02886
Block Island is off the coast of RI. It's a great day trip full of beaches, seafood, sights and shops. It is a ferry ride away and you can catch the ferry from Point Judith in Narragansett or Newport. You can rent mopeds (be warned there is a test), bikes, or if you want you can bring a car on the ferry. All details of ferry tickets can be found at the website.
There are so many great places to eat in RI. Here are some of our favorites around the state. 1. Matunuck Oyster Bar: located down in South Kingstown, it's one of the best places for seafood. Right on the water with great local oysters. 2. Monahan's Clam Shack: looking for the best clam cakes and chowder? Our recommendation is Monahan's. A small clam shack right at the end of the sea wall in Narragansett RI. 3. Iggy's Doughboys and Chowder House: Located in Warwick and Narragansett. The Warwick location is right near our venue and hotel room block. You can sit outside by the beach. Grab some clam cakes and doughboys and watch the sunset. 4. Chelo's Waterfront Bar and Grille: This Chelo's is different than the rest. It is located in Warwick and right on the water in a marina. Sit out in their back seating are and watch the boats. Sometimes you get to listen to live music. The food is great! 5. Diego's: A great Mexican restaurant in Newport located right in Bowen's Wharf.
If you are in the area for a little while, Boston is about an hour and a half drive. So many things to explore in that city
