Grant and Lauren met after mutual friends, Caitlin and Tom, thought that they might be a good match. Caitlin described Lauren to Grant as "the perfect girl for you" and Grant to Lauren as "sorta cute I guess but definitely willing" and rest is history as they say. Their love started to blossom during regular walks, playing tourist and exploring their beloved city. They took full advantage of their limited time together between Lauren's trips for work and Grant's trips for coaching. It was here when Grant began driving Lauren to the airport every Monday and picking her up every Thursday as she returned to him, squeezing every minute they could out of their constrained schedules...
After a few years of continuous cultivation of fun, growth, adventure, and most importantly love, things really began to get serious between these two nuts. Lauren's work travel refused to let up but they continued to look for more ways to squeeze a few extra minutes together out of their all too short weekends. This constant search for longer moments together lead them to move into an apartment together, a move that proved to further expand their love for each other and yet not give Grant a reprieve from the twice weekly trips to the airport. Grant planned out every detail of the engagement. He got a dinner reservation at their favorite spot, bought the ring all on his own and even filled their apartment with roses (thank you Costco). He would pick his lady up that Thursday, per usual, whisk her back to their abode and as she opened the door to see the beautiful life that they had built together, he would pop the question. The best laid plans... The second he got to the airport, he performed his usual duties, bag in the back, door open for Lauren and of course a hug and a kiss. It was at this point, ring in pocket, that all plans fell apart. He looked her deep in the eyes, told her he loved her and started down to one knee. Such an action that is usually met with excitement and tears but in this love story, it was quickly met with "don't you dare propose at the airport" and an even faster reply of "uh, too late". Despite the location, she said yes! They rode home in near silence, Lauren in complete shock and wondering how Grant was so calm. She decided to question his easy riding demeanor and he reminded her that he knew this was coming! They returned to the apartment and the forest of roses, having only shared the great news with the random couple in the elevator and continued onto dinner. After their wonderful meal and excitement together they finally let the family in on the secret and the wedding planning began (nearly immediately) .
