If you plan on exploring outside of Galway or extending your trip, we highly recommend renting a car. Ireland is a beautiful (and driveable) country, and there are so many amazing day trips you can take around Galway.
YES!!! You will need an adapter for your phone chargers, electronics, etc. Be mindful that certain hair tools like a Dyson blowdryer may not work with the adapters (I blew a fuse last time) so just be prepared :)! The hotel will have hair dryers.
For electronics, the voltage is different in the USA (110v) and Ireland (220-240v). In order to protect your electronic devices, we recommend purchasing a converter with a three-prong UK adapter plug or a universal Travel adapter/converter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DQTL87X/ref=dp_iou_view_item?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Weather in the west of Ireland is notoriously temperamental. Be prepared for sudden showers, bright sun, lots of wind... a little bit of everything! Bring weather-appropriate attire, including a pair of sensible walking shoes (just no umbrellas, they won't survive the wind!).
Galway has plenty of ways to get around, whether by local City Bus or simply a quick walk across town. If you're looking to get from point A to point B quickly, taxis are by far the most common and widely available way to get across town efficiently and relatively cheaply. Hail a taxi in real time or feel free to schedule advanced bookings using some of the services below. Most taxi services also have a downloadable app you can use. As a reminder to our non-Irish guests, the country code for Ireland is +353 and the area code for Galway is (0)91. Uber does not operate in Galway, Ireland. Instead, locals and visitors typically rely on traditional taxi services or ride-hailing apps like Free Now, which is popular in many Irish cities. Free Now allows you to book taxis directly through their app, providing a similar convenience to Uber.
