Lauren and Derek connected online and shut down the restaurant on their first date, enjoying the easy conversation. On the second date, Lauren knew she had met her competitive match when she lost to Derek at Top Golf and almost every bar game that evening. Derek was impressed that Lauren could hit a draw (a kind of golf shot) and handle his jokes. After the first few weeks they each knew this was something special and couldn't wait to see where the future would lead.

Derek invited Lauren to join him in Florida on a "business trip". After a few work appointments, they met up with his friends John and Kelly in 30A. He took her on a tour of 30A that ended at The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach. Derek "played it cool" by letting Lauren think it was her idea to go on a walk at the beach. As they watched the sunset, Derek surprised Lauren getting down on one knee to propose. After a lot of smiles and kisses, Lauren finally said "Yes!"
