While in college at St. Edward's University, Lauren and Brandon would frequent Cosmic Coffee, often after church on Sunday mornings! Lauren's favorite breakfast taco in all of Austin is the Don Chago at Pueblo Viejo food truck located at Cosmic!
Mozart's is located on the water, just off of Mopac. Brandon took Lauren here for coffee and breakfast immediately before he proposed!
A gorgeous patio located on the 6th floor at the LINE hotel on Cesar Chavez. The views of Austin and the lake are expansive and P6 is perfect for a sunset dinner or drink.
Lauren and Brandon's favorite sandwich shop in Austin. If you know Brandon, you know he doesn't play around with his sandwiches. This place is the real deal. Brandon's order: An Italian sandwich with all the toppings OR the Rotisserie Chicken sandwich with all the toppings. Lauren's order: The Chopped Brisket and Swiss sandwich OR an Italian Sandwich add avocado (yes, I know that's weird, but don't knock it until you try it)
One of our all time faves, a traditional italian food truck serving up from scratch pasta and other homemade italian comfort food dishes. Do yourself a favor and get the carbonara.
Lauren and Brandon's favorite pizza place in Austin. Just go ahead and get the pep and ricotta pizza.
Lauren's favorite greenhouse and nursery in all of Austin. Brandon and Lauren would often go on dates here and spend hours walking around and looking at the plants (and often, buying too many).
Bouldin acres is perfect for food and fun - Lauren and Brandon would often go to Houston Texans watch parties here (sorry Cowboys fans). CM Smokehouse is the featured food at Bouldin Acres and they have a brisket crunchwrap that is to die for! Bouldin also has pickleball courts, a playscape, and TVs, perfect for spending an afternoon with friends!
Lauren and Brandon love a good museum date. The Blanton is one of the best and one we've been to a few times!
A gorgeous museum in downtown Austin with seasonal featured artists all showcasing traditional and contemporary Mexican, Latino, and Chicano art. Lauren and Brandon have been to see several different artist installations during our time here in Austin!
At the wildflower center, you'll find expansive trails, protected wildlife, native plants, and several events all throughout the year. Brandon has surprised Lauren on several dates to the center for specialty events and artist installations!
Austin is known for the gorgeous and expansive Greenbelt hiking trails that we hold near and dear to our heart!
One of our favorite hiking areas just outside of Austin, in Lakeway. We've taken friends and family here to enjoy the trails and the natural waterfalls in this beautiful green space!
If you're here for a few days and want to venture outside of Austin, consider making the 45 minute drive out to Lockhart, Texas - BBQ capital of Texas and Lauren's hometown! See the link for a list of recommendations from Lauren. From BBQ, to vintage shopping, to live music on most weekends, Lockhart has it all - plus, that iconic town square gives you an authentic small-town Texas feel.
Located about 15 minutes away from the Austin airport, McKinney Roughs Nature Park has several miles of hiking trails and facilities perfect for a picnic. Lauren worked here during her high-school years as a camp counselor!
