In 2020, Lauren took a step back from dating in what she calls her “year of no boys,” but in the new year, her good friends Sara and Tess convinced her to give dating another shot by downloading the Hinge app. Reluctantly, Lauren agreed, and shortly after downloading the app, she matched with Austin. After just a week of chatting on the app, Austin set up a date with Lauren. The two met on April 21, 2021 at a local spot in Fells Point, Baltimore for tacos and beer, the same restaurant where Austin’s older brother, Grant, had taken his now-wife, Andrea, on their first date. What started as a casual meeting quickly turned into hours of conversation, and soon enough, they were off to Max’s Taphouse, one of the best beer bars in Baltimore (and, in their opinion, the country). Bonding over their shared love of craft beer and the beer tracking app, Untapped, it was clear that this was just the beginning of their lives together. Within days, Lauren and Austin were already planning their next date! In the weeks that followed, Austin and Lauren continued to enjoy their time together—going on dates at Outpost, a local neighborhood bar, having cozy at-home date nights where Austin tested his cooking skills, and meeting each other's friends and family. It was in these moments, watching Lauren interact with the people she loves most, that Austin realized he wanted her by his side forever. He officially asked Lauren to be his girlfriend over pizza and wine (two of Lauren’s favorite things, he really knows her well!) and from there, they became inseparable. Over their three years of dating, Austin and Lauren traveled frequently to West Chester and Bryce to spend quality time with their families, visited a number of lighthouses across the East Coast, drank countless beers at over 100 different breweries, and purchased their first home together in Baltimore. Just before their third anniversary, on March 30, 2024, Austin took Lauren back to Fells Point and proposed on a pier overlooking Baltimore’s waterfront! The celebration continued with friends and family at Max’s Taphouse, where it all began just a few years prior! Now, Austin and Lauren are thrilled to celebrate their love with all of their closest friends and family just blocks away from their home when they officially become Mr. & Mrs. Cassidy on June 20, 2026!
