FAQs

Burning questions? We'll do our best to anticipate them right here. But if we haven't covered it, feel free to ask!
Question

Just how remote are we talkin' here?

Answer

Depends on how you qualify 'remote.' Benton is a small community in the eastern part of California, near the Nevada border. There isn't cell reception at the Inn at Benton Hot Springs, but Inn guests can enjoy free WiFi. All the roads leading to the location are paved, so you won't need a high clearance or 4WD vehicle to get there. The nearest cities are Mammoth Lakes an hour west and Bishop, 45 minutes south.

Question

What's your COVID-19 safety plan?

Answer

The Inn at Benton Hot Springs has implemented their own safety measures: "Check-in is 100 percent non-contact; we have installed outdoor check-in kiosks, all guests will receive their registration, detailed COVID-19 protocols and a map to their lodging or tubsite. All guests and staff must wear masks when any direct contact is made and at the restrooms and the office; new flush toliet restrooms have been installed in the tubsite campground and will be completely sanitized two to three times daily and stocked with soap and bleach spray bottles; guests are required to maintain a 6 foot distance from other guests and staff. All houses and rooms will be cleaned and sanitized as per State and County directives. Our detailed cleaning plan is available upon check-in or call us if you wish to discuss." Additionally, we will have our own plan in place and will communicate all details to our guests prior to arrival.

Question

How do you plan to keep your wedding COVID-safe?

Answer

The venue hosting our ceremony is ours for the weekend. That means you won't interact with any guests who aren't part of our guest list, and our final invite list was drafted in compliance with county restrictions. All wedding-related events are happening outdoors and with strict social distancing protocols in place. We're working with our vendors and the venue itself to ensure guest safety. Even with social distancing, we ask that guests bring masks as there will be times when masks are required. We will be implementing several measures and will communicate our detailed safety plan to our guests as the event nears.

Question

We aren't the camping type. Where should we stay?

Answer

Totally fair. There are multiple options in nearby Mammoth Lakes and Bishop, from hotels & resorts to vacation rentals. We've included links to a couple of them on our travel + lodging page, but feel free to search out the best option. Both Mammoth Lakes and Bishop are about a 45 minute drive from the ceremony site.

Question

What about food?

Answer

If you're camping at Benton for the weekend, you should plan to provide all your own meals OTHER than brunch on Saturday morning. If you're immediate family or in our wedding party, we'll also provide dinner after our rehearsal on Friday, and our formal ceremony on Saturday.

Question

We all know what happened at the LAST Dailey wedding. Where's the nearest hospital?

Answer

There are hospitals in Bishop and Mammoth, as well as first responders stationed 4 miles from the venue.

Question

If I'm camping, is there potable water? What about firewood?

Answer

Please bring your own firewood. There is potable water as well, but since it's piped directly from the hot spring, we recommend bringing drinking water.

Question

What are the Inn room details?

Answer

All rooms have refrigerators, ceiling fans, robes, satellite TV, A/C in summer and floor radiant heat in the winter. Free WiFi service is available. The Miner's Cabin, a "glamping unit", is the newest addition to lodging at the Inn. It has no utilities but it is adjacent to the bathhouse. Heating is available during cold winter nights. Propane barbecues, tables and chairs are available for guests on a covered patio just off the garden. Inn guests share three private outdoor soaking tubs, which are always open. Cellular telephone service is generally not available, but can be accessed nearby or by using WiFi.

Question

Are dogs allowed?

Answer

Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the Inn, rental houses, and at the campsites.
