Honestly, I can’t remember the exact moment Kayla and I met. It was probably sometime in middle or high school, likely during one of the many shows I did with her brother Cary. In high school, Kayla and I always seemed to float within each other's periphery: same lunch table here and there, a class or two together. However, we ran in completely different circles (think sk8er boi by avril lavigne), so nothing ever happened. Plus, I thought I was straight at the time lolol It wasn't until years later that we reconnected on Tinder. Kayla caught my eye with some cute goat pics from her parents' farm and nailed down our first date by guessing my middle name. We met up in Wilmington for dinner and a stroll along the Riverwalk. As we delved into deep conversation by the river, it became apparent that a wedding was happening in the building right in front of us. The bride and groom danced to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran, and I admit, I got a little spooked. It felt like a sign from the universe that I wasn't ready for. The next day, I let Kayla know that I wasn't in the right headspace to date at the moment. She, being the kind human she is, told me that if I ever "need someone to walk at a reasonable pace with, holler at me." (I'm crying again just writing this ahhhhh i should've just married her right then!!) A couple months passed, and I kept having dreams starring Kayla where she was just this beautiful, supportive presence. I checked in with myself - maybe I could be ready for a walk. So, on Wrightsville Beach at sunset, I sent her a text asking if her offer still stood. Spoiler: it did. And might I add, Kayla always does her best to walk at a reasonable pace with me (even though I can be a slow walker) :)
I distinctly remember walking through the hallways of Terry Sanford, just passing the cafeteria when I noticed Laurel Flom. In a cute preppy dress with her hair down, smiling. That was my first memory of her, although I'm sure we crossed paths before that. I had admired her from afar in a "how is she so dang talented" way, while watching my brother in whatever play he was in. I'm sure she'll correct all my grammar mistakes after I write this hehe my little English major. Then we both went off to college and the next time I saw her I was passing her burgers out the window (I personally grabbed her order to deliver them) as I was excited to see her... and noticed she was gay according to Facebook. I'm sure I flirted and probably gave her an extra ranch, as that was my MO. A few years after that I was swiping on Tinder and came across her profile, it was an instant right swipe for me. She messaged me first, as my tinder line was "Hit me up for goat pics" which reallyyyy killed it on Tinder. I asked her out on a date (had to finesse it) and we met up in Wilmy at Tarantelli's. We had the absolute worstttttt caprese to date there, however the company overshadowed that. We walked on the river afterwards, and there was a wedding going on of course. I thought it was ironic, good funny people watching, and made a move to put my arm around Laurel. Who then quickly told me she wanted to take things slow. We continued to text after this date, but then she broke up with me!! I was like wowowowoowowow, but I told her to let me know if she ever wanted to go for a walk and I'd be glad to accompany her. Few months later guess who was texting me at what I would say is a late hour of the night hehe we had our second date shortly after, I made her homemade popcorn and we watched "But I'm a Cheerleader". The rest is history and here we are today! :) 3 cats and lots of love.
Now we ask for you to be here when we join hands in mawwiage! We want to celebrate with some of our favorite people, and we're asking you to meet us in Wilmington on Dec 28th, 2025.
