On a warm summer's eve in 2010, the best man hosted his college graduation party in the hometown of the groom, Wall, NJ. Informed that this would be the Hailey's Comet of parties (a Lesko/Elon/Hometown gathering), the groom prepped accordingly by wearing the nicest outfit he could find: a wrinkled brown polo shirt from the Gap and a pair of cargo shorts from Old Navy, two sizes too small. Throughout the chaos, out of the corner of the groom's eye, he spotted a beautiful woman with a tan that oddly resembled the hue of a Phoenix. She was carrying a silver bartending shaker with her. Instantly drawn to her, and in one of those rare moments in life where the groom consumed the correct amount of alcohol for ultimate confidence, approached the bride and asked why she was carrying around enough bartending supplies for a 500-person party. They hit it off immediately, so much, so that another groomsman, Pat Newman, yelled at them for flirting too much during a card game of Kings. The groom made such an impression on the bride, he was invited up the following weekend for an Elon Phoenix housewarming party she was throwing. Suave pick-up lines from the groom flourished throughout the evening yet again, and after a goodbye kiss, the groom told the bride that he was in love with her and was going to marry her someday. This resulted in an 8 year pursuit of the bride. Despite the mounting evidence of disinterest in the groom (unanswered text messages, politely declining phenomenal date requests, constant ragging on by his buddies for saying I love you before the first date, awkward eye-contact at chance run-ins in Hoboken/NYC), the groom soldiered on, knowing that something was there between the two of them.
After running into each other once a year at Isabelle Lesko's August birthday celebrations, both the bride and groom found out that they would be spending an entire 3-Day weekend together skiing at the Haven, the ski-house owned by John and Isabelle. Game planning the entire 4 hour ride up what the pick-up line of the year was going to be, the bride and groom instantly connected upon arrival. With a moment to herself, the groom asked the bride "So are we going to get it right this year? Or are you going to waste my time again?" WHATS UP. The rest…is history.
In January, the groom mentioned to the bride that they would be having brunch with friends at the waterfront in Hoboken on February 8th. Oddly specific since the groom never plans anything further than 5 minutes in advance. Pretending that they were running late, the groom mentioned to the bride that they should get a selfie on the waterfront. Even more oddly specific since the groom hates taking photos. While attempting to be romantic, the bride was ranting on about how her friend lost a watercolor painting in said waterfront last weekend and a bunch of other stuff the groom was used to tuning out. The groom mentioned that he was so lucky most of his dreams had come true yet there was one that hadn't yet. He asked if she could make that one dream come true as well.
