Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Laura Fairman and Ted Beachley
Here are our recommendations for things to eat and see in and around Portland, Maine!

Food and Beverage

• Portland Lobster Company has laidback picnic benches and sometimes live music • Luke's Lobster Portland Pier has a great patio on the water • Central Provisions for creative small plates • Scales for classic seafood • Duckfat does Belgian-style frites, poutine, and sandwiches. • Eventide Oyster Co. is an oyster bar restaurant • The Holy Donut will have a long line, but their donuts made from Maine potatoes are so good! • For cocktails, Blyth & Burrows, Portland Hunt & Alpine Club • For beer, you really can't go wrong in Portland. Liquid Riot, Novare Res Bier Cafe, and Shipyard Brewing are good Old Port options. If you're willing to venture a little further out, we also like Austin Street and Lone Pine. Allagash Brewing's HQ location is about 20 min outside of the Old Port, but it's worth the visit.

THINGS TO DO

• Shopping in the Old Port • Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth is surrounded by a nice park and trail. • Eastern Promenade is a beautiful spot to walk or hang out. Paddleboard/kayak rentals are available from Portland Paddle here. You can also walk the Eastern Promenade Trail along the shoreline back to the Old Port. • Portland Schooner Co. is a favorite sail experience of Laura's, leaving downtown Portland for 2-hr sails. • For runners, bikers, and walkers, the Back Cove Trail is a great 3.5 mile loop around Portland's Back Cove, and connects to the Eastern Promenade Trail.

KID FRIENDLY

Some recommendations for our guests traveling with kids! • The Portland Children's Museum is located on Thompson's Point, a quick Uber/Lyft from the Old Port. • Eastern Promenade is a beautiful park accessible from the Old Port and elevated above the water with a playground, kayak rentals available, and often food trucks. • Deering Oaks Park has a playground, tennis courts, and a large farmer's market from 7am-1pm on Saturdays. • The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum has family-friendly train rides along scenic Casco Bay. • Lobster demo boat rides with Rocky Bottom Fisheries give kids the opportunity to pull and bait traps. • Mackworth Island is an 11 minute drive from the Old Port, and has a beautiful trail that loops around the island.
