Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony is within a Catholic mass. To ensure that mass is not interrupted and that you don't see the bride before she walks down the isle, we ask that you arrive to the Cathedral at least 15 minutes early.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Semi-formal attire. The wedding party will be in tuxedos and long dresses. Men are welcome to wear a suit or jacket and tie. Women are welcome to wear a floor-length, tea-length, or appropriate cocktail dress. Please remember that the ceremony is in a Catholic church so we ask you to be respectful in your attire.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

A variety of hotels in Downtown Charleston have been so generous to provide blocks of rooms at discounted rates. The hotels are at multiple price points to accommodate as many people as possible. Information and links for booking can be found on the "Travel" page. We highly recommend booking your hotel early due to Charleston being a popular destination and another large event occurring the same weekend.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation included the phrase "and guest" you are welcome to bring a date!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love your kids but want to give you adults some time for yourselves to just relax and have fun! Therefore, this will be an adults only event.

Question

What should I do between Mass and the reception?

Answer

There's plenty to see in Downtown Charleston during the transition period! Stop by the Historic Charleston Market and do some window shopping or stop into a bar for a quick drink! Some favorites en route include: The Gin Joint, Church and Union, and Henry's.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

You are welcome to park in the Cathedral's parking lot which is adjacent to it (ignore the signs at the parking spaces). However, all cars must be removed after the ceremony to allow parishioners to park for the 5:30 PM mass. Merchants Hall does not have complementary parking. There is a lot behind Merchants Hall where you can pay to park using an app as well as metered street parking around the venue.

Question

Where can I go to Mass on Sunday?

Answer

There are three Catholic Churches in Downtown Charleston: the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Saint Mary of the Annunciation, and St. Patrick Catholic Church - each with its own history and style. Please visit their respective websites for information on mass times.
