Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Laura Truglio and Kenny Lowry
Welcome to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia! The Mountain State is home to spirited small towns, undiscovered hidden gems and world-class outdoor adventures. In West Virginia, let country roads lead you far away from everything and a little closer to heaven. Highlighted by the world-famous Appalachian Trail, there are miles of scenic hiking and biking trails to explore. If you love water sports, the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers flow through Jefferson County and make for fabulous fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting and tubing. Or just take a leisurely stroll and take in the spectacular beauty of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park.

Harpers Ferry National Historical Park

171 Shoreline Drive, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425

Paths wind through Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, which has 19th-century buildings, a Civil War Museum and John Brown’s Fort, a key site in an 1859 abolitionist raid. The location where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet, known as The Point, offers views of Maryland and Virginia. The Appalachian Trail Visitor Center has exhibits on the long-distance hiking trail.

River Riders Family Adventure

408 Alstadts Hill Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425

River Riders Inc. offers white water rafting, tubing, canopy tour/zip lining, aerial forest adventure parks, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, lodging options and fishing adventures on the beautiful Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers (class I-III) in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, where Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia come together.

Morgan's Grove Park

Kearneysville Pike, Shepherdstown, WV 25443

With seven parks, Shepherdstown offers hikes both difficult and deliriously easy. A favorite is the one-mile loop around Morgan's Grove Park with its 20 acres of trees, meadows, and children's playground. Slightly harder is nearby Northern Peaks Trail Loop at a challenging 6.1 miles.

Martinsburg Roundhouse and Caperton Train Station

100 East Liberty Street, Martinsburg, WV 25404

Step back in time at one of the oldest functioning commuter rail stations, the Martinsburg Roundhouse and Caperton Train Station.
