Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Joe Lovenshimer and Laura Kraus
Brevard is about the greatest little town in the Southeast and there are plenty of options for easy adventures in the forest and fun things to do in town. Brevard is also just 40 minutes south of Asheville, NC where there is always something happening. One option is to head to the River Arts District to check out local art, great beer at The Wedge, and lots of walkable dining options. We've listed a few ideas, but please don't hesitate to reach out to Laura or Joe if you have any questions about things to do while in town.

Pisgah National Forest

275 Forest Gate Drive, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768

Pisgah Forest is the main attraction of Brevard. There are many hiking trails, both accessible and remote. We recommend Sam's Knob or Looking Glass Knob for moderate hikes and the Davidson River Trail or Pink Beds for flat trails. Other ways to play include checking out waterfalls (an easy roadside one is Looking Glass Falls), mountain biking, climbing, or relaxing by the Davidson River. There are many local companies that rent gear and will even take you on guided excursions. Check out The Hub for mountain bike rentals, local trail beta, and a post-adventure beer!

Dupont State Forest

NC

This another great area with lots of great options for glorious and accessible recreation. Our favorite things to do in Dupont are mountain biking and hanging out by waterfalls. Dupont has a ton of options for short, relatively flat, and rewarding hikes! Our personal favorites are Wintergreen Falls, High Falls, and Triple Falls.

Transylvania Farmers Market

190 E Main St., Brevard, NC 28712
, (828) 548-0660

This is a nice option for Saturday morning if you are looking for prepared food, local produce and animal products, and other treats. Be sure to go see our friend Katie with Green Heart Juice!

Oskar Blues Brewery

342 Mountain Industrial Drive, Brevard, NC 28712
, (828) 883-2337

Great place to go for drinks and to meet up with folks. The have daily brewery tours and a great outdoor hang-out space. It is a six-minute drive from downtown.

Magpie Meat & Three

170 King Street, Brevard, NC 28712
, (828) 877-3773

Great spot for barbeque and amazing southern sides. They have nice outdoor and roomy interior seating areas. Good for groups and families. A new favorite in town.

Bracken Mountain Bakery

42 South Broad Street, Brevard, NC 28712
, (828) 883-4034

Highly recommended. One of our favorite places in town. Joe' s recommendation is to go after 4 pm for half price pastries. Laura's recommendation is the almond crossiant.

Kiwi Gelato and Espresso

67 East Main Street, Brevard, NC 28712
, (828) 877-4659

This is an easy place to want to go. Richard serves up great gelato and coffee drinks right on Main Street.

Sunrise Cafe

273 North Broad Street, Brevard, NC 28712
, (828) 884-3331

Great small breakfast spot in town. Decent food at reasonable prices and always packed. A Brevard staple.

Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah Access

Cruso Road, Canton, NC 28716

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a stunning drive in one of the prettiest places on the east coast. Our wedding will fall at the beginning of fall color season and the parkway will offer excellent views in any direction. It is not to be missed if you have the time.
