That morning, it was a super early morning. Laura and Jake had planned to get their parents together to ride on the historic 611 steam engine from Goshen to Staunton and back. Then, they were going to have lunch up at the Omni Homestead, one of their favorite places. It was a super cold morning, and the train was about an hour late leaving due to an electrical problem. Laura's parents, who knew of Jake's plan, decided to de-board the train and meet the rest of the group in Hot Springs to ensure the group could keep their lunch reservation. Once they got up there, Laura's dad told Laura he could move their lunch reservation back by about 20 minutes, so they had time to walk around the hotel property and show Jake's parents the grounds. Then he suggested a climb up a short trail to the golf course because there were some pretty views of the hotel's iconic tower up there. The top of the trail was the tee box for the Old Course's 14th hole with a stunning view of the hotel. After a minute or so of snapping pictures, Jake grabbed Laura's hand and escorted her away from the rest of the group. As they walked down the hill, Jake told Laura that life with him was an adventure and said he wanted Laura to be his forever adventure partner. Then, he dropped to one knee and asked Laura to marry him.
