will there be a hotel block?

Answer

palermo is very walkable, especially within the historic center. ubers, taxis and private transfers are readily available when needed. we recommend comfortable shoes, as many streets are cobblestone.

Question

what is the currency in italy?

italy uses the euro (€). credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s helpful to have some cash for taxis, cafés, and small shops. atms are readily available throughout the city.

Question

what is the tipping culture in sicily?

Answer

tipping in sicily is not required, but it’s always a nice gesture and appreciated. at restaurants, you’ll often see a small coperto (cover charge) included in the bill, which covers bread and service. if you receive great service, it’s common to round up the bill or leave around 5–10%. at cafés and bars, leaving small change is appreciated. for taxis, most people simply round up to the nearest euro. at hotels, tipping porters about €1–€2 per bag and housekeeping €1–€2 per day is a kind gesture. overall, tipping isn’t expected like in the u.s., but it’s a thoughtful way to show appreciation for good service.
