God is Good

Laura and Ely vaguely knew each other through Chi Alpha Campus Ministries. However, it was not until Ely slipped a cookie in her Chick-fil-A bag that Laura knew this was the man she would marry. This is partly a joke but nonetheless a moment that Laura likes to share. Laura had developed feelings for Ely but didn't want to jump into a relationship right before a lengthy missions internship in the summertime. Laura invited Ely to have coffee with her in effort to "clear the air" and set up boundaries to keep it from going any further. After waking up at 5am and spending fervent time in prayer, Ely threw her whole plan off course when he too declared his "eye" for Laura that morning, but he also had a summer internship. The two of them shared their testimonies and ended their date with the agreement that they both wanted to a pursue a relationship but not until later that summer. This is in March. So, they start this "friendship" where they text all the time and end every day with a Bible study over FaceTime. Needless to say, the boundaries did not work. Spring break comes and they both go on separate mission trips. It was agreed that they would not text during the week and rather spend ample amount of time seeking God's guidance on the relationship. A few days into the trip, Ely receives word that Laura's mission team is meeting his for a few days due to a crazy turn of events. So, in a week that was meant to intentionally distance and spend time in prayer, God brought them both together (hours apart). Wow. In the midst of all of this, corona virus begins to break out and both of their summer plans fall through. Now what? At the end of the mission trip, Ely and Laura return to Fairmont and Ely asks her to be his girlfriend. After a summer of endless good memories and lots of prayer, they knew they could reach the lost better together. Ely and Laura complement each other in the best ways and truly believe they can serve the kingdom in a mighty and honoring way.
