How We Met & First Date

November 8, 2016

Funny story: Laura was in Duluth at the time studying for her PT board exam, living with her BFF Emily (love you friend!). Emily had a roster of her medical school class lying on the table one day and Laura picked it (mind you, there were pictures) and started taking a look. Laura stumbled across Creed and thought “Ok, he’s cute and that’s a really interesting name!” She mentions it to Emily and things started rolling. Laura is still very focused on her exam but after she takes it, Emily & her other friend Alena (who Laura & Emily had skied with in high school for years), convinced her to tag along to the medical school’s Halloween Party. So, Laura went and Alena introduced Laura to Creed saying, “Hey, this is Laura. She used to live in Fargo.” Creed seemed immediately interested as he also had lived in the F-M area for college when he attended MSUM. We began talking about how I attended NSDU and Jamestown College for PT school and had indeed lived in Fargo for 7 years (not sure how I made it that long). Creed had also lived in F-M for about 7 years before he moved to Duluth. We kept talking and also realized we could have potentially attended the same PT program as Creed was deciding between PT and medicine. A few other common topics came up such as skiing & snowboarding. Laura left the conversation very hopeful, but had no idea if Creed was interested. Well, soon enough, Creed whisked Emily away during one of their breaks from class and asked for Laura’s number. Creed texted Laura and asked her if she would prefer “a hike amongst the trees” or coffee and she responded: “Both!” They went on their first date and had such magical time. It’s history from there :)

The Proposal

July 21, 2020

Creed & Laura were both off work this week and decided to venture into the mountains. It was a beautiful Tuesday morning and they woke up early to hike Huron Peak, one of Colorado’s “14ers.” While hiking up, Creed was stopping an unusual amount for pictures along the way. He also had hiccups for the entirety of the hike. As many of the “14er” hikes are, it was absolutely stunning but Laura had a feeling it would be the most memorable hike of them all. As the hike progressed, we had to pick up the pace because we knew a storm was coming. So, the pictures became fewer and we started the hardest part of the hike to the summit. Immediately as we got to the summit, Creed was on one knee. Laura was still out of breath and it was the best whirlwind of her life. She said yes and they had an unforgettable moment, just the two of them at 14, 000 feet newly engaged. We snapped some selfies and tripod pictures and then needed to head down the mountain. Sure enough, it began to hail and we were running but Laura was still admiring her new, shiny ring in the hail. We finally made it back and it was indeed, the most memorable hike of our lives.
