I was fortunate to grow up vacationing on Beaver Island every summer. At a young age I would beg my parents to take me back to the Island! The ferry ride to this magical place are some of my greatest memories growing up. Fast forward to 2016, the year Corey and I reconnected after years of being "up north" and "GVSU" bus stop friends. Corey and I experienced a great loss our first year together. My best friend Mallory Brewer passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm. Corey could sense I needed a getaway. That's when we booked our first trip to the Island together. A trip that we both hoped would restore our souls. This would be Corey's first trip to the Island! It gave me so much happiness to take Corey to all my favorite spots; Donegal Bay, Car Wash Road, The Big Birch, John's Rock, Whiskey Point Lighthouse and Iron Ore Bay. Corey fell in love with this magical place. Fast forward to August 25, 2019. We are on the Island with a group of our close friends celebrating my 30th birthday. We were out boodlin the Island and showing our friends the beauty of the Beav! Corey had parked the truck at Iron Ore Bay for everyone to take some pictures and stretch their legs. I was fully enjoying a shot of fireball and dancing to Lizzo Truth Hurts. In Corey Sanders fashion he asked for everyone to follow him down the beach so he could capture this moment on his drone. Little did I know it turned into much more. Corey was down on one knee! Truly the best day of our lives. The proposal was followed by lots of champagne and a trip to the Iron Ore Bay Lighthouse, ending the night with a beach bonfire at Donegal Bay. We can not wait to say I do and begin our marriage on Beaver Island.
