Sight-Seeing

The Wedding Website of Laura Gray and Anneka Freeman
There are LOTS of things to do in the Washington, D.C. area. We hope our guests can take a long weekend to spend some time taking in the sights, visiting museums, and taking a tour of the area's breweries and wineries! Here are a few of our favorites in the area.
Loudoun County Wine Trail

Loudoun County Wine Trail

112-G South Street, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175

Visit some of the local wineries! Loudoun County is full of them.

Planet Word Museum

925 13th St., NW, Washington, D.C., DC 20005
, 202-931-3139

One of our favorite museums in D.C., Planet Word has amazing exhibits on language and how it connects us.

Washington Plaza at Lake Anne

Washington Plaza at Lake Anne

11402 Washington Plaza West, Reston, VA 20190

Reston is "the nation's first planned community," and Lake Anne is a great place to visit. Enjoy a pretzel & beer at our local pub, Lake Anne Brewhouse, pick up a book at the used book store, or just enjoy some fresh air lakeside. APRIL-NOVEMBER FARMER'S MARKET 8AM-12PM

Wheatland Spring Farm + Brewery

Wheatland Spring Farm + Brewery

38506 John Wolford Road, Waterford, VA 20197
, (540) 687-0035

One of our favorite local breweries! It's a little out of the way if you're coming for the reception, but it's a great stop if you're on the Loudoun County Wine Trail

Harpers Ferry National Park

Harpers Ferry National Park

171 Shoreline DR, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425

Want to go for a hike? There are several national parks around - Harpers Ferry combines historic old town attractions with nature. Harpers Ferry is not far from the May venue.

National Mall & Memorial Parks

National Mall & Memorial Parks

Washington, DC
, (202) 426-6841

Make sure to check the website for closures due to COVID-19, protests, or festivals. Driving in DC can be a competition sport, so we recommend taking the Metro in from Reston or Tyson's Corner.

Smithsonian Museums & Zoo

Smithsonian Museums & Zoo

1000 Jefferson Drive Southwest, Washington, DC 20560
, (202) 633-1000

Smithsonian Museums are free to all, and often have special events. Check their websites for Covid-19 procedures.

For all the days along the way
