Our Story
Did you know? We met on Laura's very first day in Maine.
In 2014, Alex was headed back to a second summer working at Camp Walden in Denmark, Maine. Laura was living in downtown Chicago & yearning for nature. Scrolling through online job boards, nothing sounded more alluring than a baking job at a summer camp in the Maine woods.
Laura bought a car, put her things in storage, and roadtripped across the country. On the first day of her new job, a handsome man in a golf cart (how fitting) showed her to her cabin.
While Alex was brainstorming how to ask out this new baker, Laura fractured her ankle & feared her summer of adventure was ruined. Cleverly, Alex suggested a crutch-friendly trip to the Bridgton Twin Drive-In, where they played a retro double feature every week.
The couple spent the summer together - getting to know each other, convalescing, exploring new places, and falling in love. Ten years later, we're ever so grateful for Craigslist job boards & broken bones!
