I can't believe after all this time...

Now if I can remember correctly, one dark and stormy night (brief interlude as I recall this evolution from my memory bank). One Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night I decided to attend this real exclusive party at this club called Vain, which was in downtown Dallas on Commerce Street. Also let me add that I'm new to the city so I had to get fly just to let these jive turkeys know I'm not from around here. So after everyone is ready we start to head to Vain. We had to pregame just a little before we left (definition of pregame - to have drinks before you leave home). While we are driving, we are playing all the hottest music to help with getting our vibe right for our arrival. After about a 15-20 minute ride, we pull up valet and the club is packed with a line down the sidewalk. So as I exit the vehicle, I see a few prospects but no one that really caught my attention. So we continued on to our section so we can hangout and network. Now as I'm sitting down, I see this group of girls taking pictures in these lil blue uniform like they are important or something. So I ask somebody who they were and he said "they are Vain girls, they work work the club". So I was like ohhhhh ok. He said they are real saddity, I told him "they ain't met L. Diddy yet". Later that night, I was at the bar trying to get a Grey Goose and Cranberry and I saw one of the Vain girls walking my way. She looked pretty nice with tank top and blue gym shorts on so I stopped her and said "Hi, My name is Latrell, some call me L Diddy but im more concerned with your name and how your night is going". Then she said "I think I like you". I was like "be careful with those four letter words because I can make you fall in love fast". She smiled and walked off. To be continued....

So I go back to my section and tell my cousin I just met one of the Vain girls and she is perfect for me. He's was like, "well did u get the number?" "No, not yet." Then he said that I was supposed to get the number. I had to leave her in suspense. So I continued with my night talking about whatever was the latest topics in 2005 (dang that was a long time ago). Later that night, when we were leaving out, I saw Ms. Vain girl. She was eyeing me from a distance, but I acted like I didn't see her. I knew I had her. Once we got outside, we were hanging out, talking while we were waiting on the car and I see her in the light without the darkness of the club and she was exactly what I pictured myself being with... about 5'5 with long curly hair. Then she walks over because she wanted me to see her in the Vain Shorts. She said "I've been waiting on you to finish our conversation". I said "me too, so let me get your number before I leave so we can continue this conversation because it looks like you just walked right of heaven".

It was a night back in my early 20's (2005) where I stayed in the club. This particular night I think I was working at a club then called Vain Lounge. I think I was working the door. That's where we met. Let's get this straight...he approached me! From that point on I think he had to have me in his life. I don't blame him. ;) We dated for a while. I had the tendency of moving back and forth btwn Dallas & LA. We remained in contact and friends throughout all of those years, mostly me calling him on his birthday or sending him holiday texts. He would ask about me every time he saw my friend, Kim. He constantly told her to tell me he had a ring for me :) Little did I know that one day this would be true! I just moved back to Texas in May 2012 (Houston this time). I visited Dallas often to see friends and family. On September 23, 2012 I ran into him at the first home game of my beloved Cowboys. I'll never forget because Claire and Jason were so mad at me for not coming back on time. My battery had died so I couldn't reach out to them to see where they were (to make a long story short). LOL But it was pretty much history after that. Who says you can't find love in the club???

a girl's night out (1. except I couldn't invite any of my other girlfriends). I knew something was up being the inquisitive and observatory person that I am. It happened on January 21st. He was "at work" on his day off so it was just me and Gigi. I couldn't get ready on time b/c she wouldn't take her nap. The plan was for Kim to pick me up (2. which never happens) to be at a place to view for Kim's "local reception" (3. that I JUST heard about and I was her MOH) around 4 pm which happened to be the place where we first met but that didn't happen. I'm almost glad it didn't b/c I would've known from that moment that it was happening. Also, can I mention that Kim was not detailed about our plans that night as to where we were going at all, (4. completely unlike her). Instead, Kim & I went to dinner at Mi Cocina around 5 pm (way to early to be having plans to be out all night). I remember checking my friends' social media to see what they were up to because I didn't know if it was about to happen at dinner. The night continues, she did a good job with making me think that maybe it wasn't happening that night. We talked about her wedding the entire time. I got antsy towards the end b/c I can't hang like I used to. There's only so many margaritas I can have before I want to go lay down. I felt like we were there forever! I needed to get up & get moving. We arrived at the Renaissance Hotel (5. my sis works there) around 9 pm for drinks. The restaurant was supposed to turn into a lounge yet there were only a handful of people there. I never heard of there being a decent lounge at the hotel. I'm sure my sister would've mentioned it. Anyways, I sat at the bar and immediately order a Pinot Noir. That's where I was greeted with roses, a note and blindfolded shortly after. I was taken to a room where a lot of our family and friends were there to witness the 6 min proposal. I guess he liked it enough, he put a ring on it!!
