It all began in the late fall of 2022 at Tarleton State University. Grant was on the baseball team, and Ashlee played softball. Grant insists their story began in the training room, where he couldn’t help but notice Ashlee from across the way— to him, it was love at first sight. But it wasn’t until one evening out with friends, at their favorite local bar, that their worlds truly collided. A shared laugh, a pickle shot, and easy conversation sparked something unexpected between them. Grant, ever the persistent one, asked Ashlee out several times before she finally agreed. When she did, everything seemed to fall into place. What followed were months filled with laughter, adventure, and a love that felt easy and true. They spent six wonderful months together before life took them in different directions—Grant to Idaho to coach baseball and pursue his master’s degree, and Ashlee to finish school in Texas. The 10 months of distance between them were hard, and though they chose to part ways, neither could shake the feeling that their story wasn’t over. And as fate (and faith) would have it, a few months later God brought them back together—this time with no miles between them. With hearts that had grown stronger and love that had only deepened, they knew they had been given a second chance at forever. And on June 12th, 2025, overlooking the waters of Lake Brienz, Switzerland, at a small church perched on a hill, Grant got down on one knee and asked Ashlee to be his forever.
