We're getting married!

Well, so much for getting married in 2020! We want to thank everyone who was willing to travel to Ferndale on June 27th for our original wedding plan. While making the decision to postpone our wedding was very hard, we realized that what was most important to us was being able to celebrate with all of our family and friends; and that's exactly what we plan to do! Expect Plan B to be even bigger and better than before! We look forward to celebrating closer to home, hoping that more of our guests will be able to make it. Please check back here for more details as we get closer, and expect an official invitation in 2021! Tent and RV camping will still be available, and most of the event details and time will remain the same! We will now be hosting the wedding at Lauren's family ranch, Young's Grove, in Turlock California. And now, we wait...

A long time ago, at a University that paved their way, a boy played hard to get, while the girl knew what to say. They were both so young, some more than others, but she found herself falling for a friend of her brother's. At the next social hang, she brought all the fun, walking in with four dogs and dinner for everyone! His heart skipped a beat and he started to drool, he never thought he'd find someone this cool. The next time Lars needed some booze, Lauren offered her help for a chance to shmooze. Their first outing alone went really well, so she gave him what he really wanted, the number to call her cell. They talked, they laughed, it became very clear, this number was good for much more than beer. He felt bad for her brother, his good friend and mate, but he just couldn't resist asking her out on a date. The rest seems like history, but it was the start of something great, for Lauren and Lars and their lives as soulmates.

I did it! I proposed! And it only took me 8 years! I wanted the entire proposal to be a surprise and we all know how easy that is with Lauren. The first thing I knew I wanted to incorporate was the dogs! That is where Lauren’s brother, Zac, came into the picture; he introduced me to his sister, and now he was going to help me propose to her by driving the missing two members of our fur family, Han and Indy, to the big event. Yes, I am the cliché that wanted to tie the ring to the dog’s collar, but I knew she wouldn’t be able to say no! It was the day of our 8-year dating anniversary, June 9th, 2019. Zac set up a perfect champagne and cheese platter picnic on Black’s Beach in Santa Cruz and waited sneakily around the corner with dogs at the ready. Where Lauren and I entered the beach for our sunset stroll, we had to walk past a rock outcropping to get to the proposal spot. Well, apparently I forgot to check the tides because there was no walkable beach around that outcropping during high tide, so we had to climb a hill and walk a few blocks on the side of the road with cars whizzing by us to get to the other beach entrance. All the while, I had to keep reassuring her, “There’s this really cool spot that people said we need to check out on the other side, let’s keep going.” Oh and I should mention, it was just my luck that the street I picked to walk down was where Zac had parked his very recognizable Jeep. At this point, Lauren was definitely starting to suspect something. Despite a couple of hiccups in the plan, we arrived at the picnic spot. As she was swooning over the goat cheese and Dom Perignon, I spotted Zac and gave the signal to release the hounds! Han my loyal boy came trotting right over to us, ring box swinging away from his collar. I got down on one knee, flawlessly released the ring box from the collar (thanks to my diligent practice and preparation of the perfect knot), and popped the question. I think we all know what happened after that.
