When do I need to RSVP?

Answer

If you received an invitation to the cabins, please RSVP as soon as possible but no later than July 4th. Otherwise, please RSVP by July 25th!

Will your wedding by indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our ceremony and reception will be outdoors! The ground is solid dirt covered with mulch, but there is a wood dance floor, so you can wear heels with a bit of caution. McHenry is in the Appalachian foothills and typically runs about 10 degrees cooler than the DC area; the ceremony and reception will be heavily shaded by the trees. Historically, summer rain showers last less than 30 minutes, so we will simply delay the ceremony in case of rain. The reception will be held under a tent. While mosquitoes aren't anticipated to be a big problem, we'd still recommend bringing bug spray (and we will have some on hand) just in case.

Can I bring my children?

Answer

Our ceremony and reception will be a child-free event apart from our close family, but children are more than welcome to join group outdoor activities, the welcome party, and the post-wedding brunch. We should be able to help arrange for childcare during the wedding if you need it - please indicate if so when you RSVP. There is a communal hang-out area on site that may be an option, or we can arrange for group babysitters at one of the vacation rentals.

Other considerations?

Answer

If you are planning to walk or hike the trails in the area and/or if you are bringing your dog, you should be vigilant about ticks (like in any woodsy outdoor area in the mid-Atlantic). Deet sprays (e.g., Off! Deep Woods) are an effective protectant for humans, and Lark is bringing a large bottle of permethrin spray for your shoes and clothing.
