Our Love Story

Love and pancakes

We met “officially” early in the morning on May 07, 2008. I was working 3rd shift as a server at IHOP in Woodstock, GA. For 4 months I had been eyeing him just hoping that we would get the chance to meet. He would always be finishing up his meal by the time my shift started and within a few moments of me drooling over this incredibly handsome man, he would be gone. I tried to leave my number once in November of ‘07, but failed. He asked if I was going be his server and looked really disappointed when I replied no. After that night, I decided that I would give him my number the next time I saw him, no matter what. I waited 6 long months before he walked back through the doors of the restaurant. I made sure to be as charming as possible and I did everything a young girl could think of to get him to take a liking to me. That night while I was cashing them out, I noticed him looking back and forth from me to his brother and then quickly scribble something down on a piece of paper. After they left, I ran over to their table to find a note that read, “Larissa, thank you for the great service. I’d love to hang out. Call me sometime, Joe.” I texted him immediately. We texted back and forth the rest of the night and the next and set our first date for May 09, 2008. We were both extremely nervous. He took me to Five Guys and then we walked around the baseball fields near my house getting to know each other. As he was driving me up the hill to my house he said, “ I wish I didn’t have to take you home.” We shared our first kiss in my driveway and said goodbye. As I walked into my room, I honestly thought I would never see him again- it was too good to be true, he was perfect. I received a text from him a minute later that said, “I had the best time. I Hope I get to see you again soon.” The second time he picked me up at my house, he was playing outside with my youngest brother and my mom told me, “that’s the man you’re going to marry. Trust me.” She was right.
