Elopement

Small and Intimate

On July 11, 2022, we eloped in the shadow of Tahoma (Mount Rainier) with our parents and a few of our most intimate friends. The elopement was blessed with perfect weather and the most beautiful sunset. Although we did not have guests at our elopement, we would love to share our love with you at one of our receptions!

Trusting the Timing

Our story began well before we stepped out of our cars to meet one another for the first time. For both of us, each heartbreak and the not-quite-right fit was an invitation to lean into trusting that the Lord was writing our love story.  In 2021, we met each other on Hinge (an online dating app):  Both Cameron and Larissa had joined Hinge after hearing it was one of the better dating apps for people who were looking for life-long partners. Larissa had hesitantly put herself back on the app because she didn’t feel that she had enough time to date actively. Larissa asked her friends and family to pray for her to meet a man that loved Jesus, was kind, was crazy about her, and would want to go on adventures with her. With encouragement, she activated her profile with strict intentionality to only dedicate less than 20 minutes a day to the app. She also made many changes to her profile to reflect her current life. The first was to change out her hiking photos for biking because she was recovering from ankle surgery. She then moved her zip code from where she was moving from to her new one, 18 miles south of her. Cameron had been waiting to date seriously for when he felt he was in a place he could open his heart up. Cameron hoped to find a woman who trusts God, has quality life experience, loves the outdoors, is kind to everyone, and is excited for what’s still to come. He also had a strict location filter on his search radius and only wanted to date women close to him. Hinge recommended that Larissa was a “Most Compatible Match,” and he clicked on Larissa’s profile. He saw her and was drawn to her bike photos. He had always wanted to learn how to bike-pack and spend more time in the wilderness.   He messaged her after an overnight shift at work, and he got a reply because he messaged Larissa during her 20 minute-a-day window.  We moved to schedule a first meet-up and date for after the weekend. Our first date felt easy and natural. We both recount seeing each other for the first time and being giddy about how handsome Cameron was and how beautiful Larissa was. When we began talking, it quickly became apparent that there was something special between us. After some flirting, thoughtful questions, and a nacho-sharing faux pas, we left that first date with a second date scheduled and a sense that we had met our person. Date after date, this feeling deepened as we learned more about one another.  We learned that we had a few things to navigate. We grew up quite differently, Larissa moving between several countries and states and Cameron mainly growing up in central California. Cameron wasn’t entirely convinced that Larissa was as funny as she was. We had to learn to trust each other’s ability to learn how to love the other. We have also found ourselves oddly similar to one another, and Cameron now thinks Larissa’s humor is his favorite :-). We are excited for you to join our unconventional Elop-edding.  If there was ever a sign to trust in the Lord’s timing, Larissa and Cameron wanting to begin life together in this season are one; meeting the person-of-your-dreams in the midst of attending grad school, internship year, recovering from an injury, navigating work schedules and buying a house. Between the significant events of the year and our families being distributed between locations, we have split our wedding celebration into a few smaller events. Please RSVP to whatever event you feel called to attend and message us if you need help with travel! We’d love to celebrate with you and appreciate your love.
