Texas/Country Casual. We encourage you to wear your favorite country dancing clothes (jeans, pearl snaps, sundresses, boots, etc). Please be mindful that our wedding will take place during our Sunday church service and refrain from wearing a hat or anything too form-fitting, short, or revealing. Think church-appropriate, but make it country! (:
We are delighted that you will be present to worship Our Lord in Divine Service with us! Here are some notes about Lutheran worship: - We are a liturgical church that follows a pattern of prayer, Scripture, song, and the Lord's Supper. The Order of Worship will be in a printed bulletin so you will be able to follow along easily. - We tend to alternate between standing a sitting a lot during Divine Service. If you are more comfortable remaining seated the whole time, that is completely ok! - Lutherans practice closed communion, meaning that only confirmed members of other Lutheran churches are invited to commune with us. We do this not to be exclusionary, but to avoid putting our visitors in the awkward position of communing with those who have different beliefs surrounding the Lord's Supper and thereby giving their consent to our belief, which they don't actually hold. During the communion portion of our service, we kindly ask non-Lutherans to remain in the pews or come forward to the altar with their arms crossed.
Absolutely! We welcome your children and babies to attend. There are children in service every Sunday so if you bring children, you will be in good company. (: Our reception dance will be family friendly, and your children will LOVE it!
Your presence is more than enough for us, especially if you have traveled a long way to attend! Should you choose to bless our new family with household goods, please visit the "Registry" tab.
Divine Service begins at 10:45am, so it would be a good idea to arrive around 10:30 to find your seat. If you arrive too far in advance, you may find yourself in early service (:
Our church has a Sunday School hour from 9:30-10:30am every Sunday before Divine Service. We will be attending Sunday School in the morning; guests are welcome to attend. There are Sunday School classrooms for children at this time as well.
Yes! Please feel free to bring your spouse, sibling, parent, child, fiancé(e) or significant other.
