Hello Everyone!

If you're landing here, it's likely because you've received our Save the Date. We'll be sending out formal invites in the Spring of 2021, but we want to make sure you all have ample time to plan accordingly since we know that many of you will be traveling from far away lands to celebrate with us! As we get closer to the big day, we'll also be updating this site to include more details (RSVP, Registry, Schedule of Events, Hotel Block Info, etc.). So, stay tuned!

We Met

Summer of 2017

Lara's Version: We met at a mutual friend's house party in the Spring of 2017. I’d been invited to be set up with another guy at the party, but Sahil thwarted that plan the second he walked through the door. In fact, mid-conversation with the other guy, I abruptly and loudly turned to my friend and asked, “Who is THAT?” We briefly chatted at the house party (aka I was spitting game, and Sahil wasn’t picking up on my “subtle” cues), but we didn't really get to know each other until I crashed Sahil and his friends' annual Grown-Ups Go Camping Trip a few months later. For those that know me, you know that I absolutely HATE camping, but I suffered through because I couldn't pass up the opportunity to spend more time with the cute guy I had my eye on all summer. On the last night of the camping trip, Sahil took me on a midnight beach stroll to gaze at the stars. After hours of stargazing and talking, he walked me back to my tent. Then, he asked me on an official date the next morning! Sahil's Version: I saw her at a house party and thought she was super cute. I saw her again on a camping trip a few months later, so I asked her out. (:

He Asked

Spring of 2020

Sahil's Version: The original proposal plan involved asking Lara to marry me in Whistler, Canada - a location that is special to us as a couple and was the site of our first vacation together. However, the world had other plans as COVID19 ramped up right before our spring vacation and foiled any hopes of traveling in the near future. Although we were now stuck at home in Seattle instead of vacationing in beautiful British Columbia, I was determined to come up with an alternative proposal that would feel just as special to us. That week, it was pouring rain nearly every day (classic Seattle), but there were a few hours of sunshine on the forecast at the end of the week. I planned a date walk along a deserted Golden Gardens beach, where we had our first date together. Wine tumblers in hand, (and the ring in my jacket pocket) we walked past the moored sailboats, past the rocks where we sat for hours getting to know each other on our first date, towards the end of the beach when we paused to watch a seal splashing and playing in the sound - a good omen ;) At the end of the beach it was just us, sun shining through light sprinkling rain clouds. I kneeled down and pulled out the ring from my pocket, telling Lara how much I love her, how much I love our life together, and how excited I am for our future. I asked her to marry me, and she said yes! Lara's Version: We went for a “date walk” at Golden Gardens Park on a rainy quarantine day. I saw a Seal, and I thought it was going to be the best part of my day. Then he pulled out the ring, and I blacked out. It was perfect — definitely topped the Seal-sighting. (:
