In addition to the recommendations below, feel free to search online, ask AI, or explore Instagram for inspiration. Marmaris is a very well-known beach town with endless options, but as a local (Lara), we highly recommend starting with the spots listed below! We suggest beginning your day by enjoying breakfast, then heading to the beach (Palace, Icon Beach, and many other great options). Swim, tan, and grab lunch by the sea. One day, do a boat tour - a must! In the late afternoon, head back to your hotel or Airbnb to get ready, then make your way to Marmaris Marina or Old Town. Once you’re in the Marina Strip or Old Town area, everything is within walking distance. Enjoy an evening of strolling, shopping, dinner, delicious drinks, and a fun night out if you’d like.
Marmaris Marina Strip is a lively waterfront promenade lined with restaurants, cafés, bars, and shops. With dozens of dining spots and pubs overlooking the yachts, it’s perfect for an evening stroll, dinner by the water, sunset drinks, or enjoying a night out. The marina itself also offers plenty of shopping options, from boutiques to souvenir stores. Its vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere makes it a favorite spot for nightlife, people-watching, and soaking in beautiful marina views.
A charming area with narrow streets, markets, shops, cafés, and bars. It is perfect for wandering, souvenir shopping, and exploring local culture. It’s also within walking distance of Marmaris Yacht Marina, where restaurants and cocktail bars line the waterfront with beautiful views of the water. Old Town Marmaris feels like a maze of picturesque alleys filled with flowers, stone steps, and a traditional charm that contrasts beautifully with the modern town nearby. At its heart is Marmaris Castle, offering a glimpse into the area’s history along with stunning views. The Grand Bazaar is a great place to browse for souvenirs and local goods, while hidden shops, cafés, and quiet waterfront corners make it perfect for discovering local gems and capturing beautiful photos. Spend time wandering the streets, soaking in the atmosphere, visiting the castle, and enjoying the waterfront views, with plenty of boat tour options nearby.
These traditional wooden boats, called gulets, take you to hidden coves, small islands, and crystal clear swimming spots that you cannot reach by car. Most tours last the full day and include several swim stops, time to relax on deck, music, and a lunch onboard. You can jump straight into the sea, sunbathe, or enjoy the views as you cruise through the bays. Boat tours depart in the morning and return in the late afternoon, around 6:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased easily through local tour stands in downtown Marmaris. As you walk, you will see dozens of them lined up next to one another, for you to compare and choose the one you like best. For reference, they are located right across from 'Fredonia Coffee'. We do not recommend the pirate ship style boats, as they tend to attract louder crowds & party-focused atmosphere (kind of tacky). If you are walking around in the evening, you can browse the options, purchase your ticket, and all you have to do is show up the next morning!
Bono Good Times Marina is a fun, energetic spot located right in Marmaris Marina. It’s perfect for cocktails, delicious food, lively music, and a vibrant nightlife atmosphere especially in the evening. A great place to enjoy drinks and a tasty meal by the water while soaking in the marina vibes.
Castle Bar is an aesthetic, charming spot tucked into Marmaris’ Old Town, (walking distance to Bono Good Times Marina as well as Felix as well) known for its friendly service, great drinks, and stunning views. Overlooking the islands, town, water, and boats below, it’s a beautiful place to enjoy cocktails or a relaxed evening out. With its laid-back vibe and breathtaking scenery, it’s perfect for winding down after a day by the sea or for enjoying a night out and about.
Icon Beach is a trendy and luxurious beachfront spot known for its stylish atmosphere, great food, and refreshing cocktails. With comfortable sunbeds, clear water, and a lively yet relaxed vibe, it’s perfect for swimming, tanning, and enjoying the day by the sea. As the sun sets, it’s a great place to grab drinks and soak in Marmaris’ vibrant beach energy, with a DJ playing most nights.
Palace Beach Club is a stylish beachfront venue known for its great food, refreshing cocktails, and the perfect setting to relax. Guests can unwind on comfortable sunbeds, swim, and soak up the sun, with options ranging from tables and bistros to loungers by the sea - whatever you prefer. Ideal for daytime lounging or sunset drinks that turn into a fun evening, it’s a very popular spot to experience the Mediterranean sea and Marmaris’ vibrant coastal energy.
One morning, instead of your hotel breakfast, we highly recommend experiencing one of Turkey’s most beloved traditions: kahvaltı (Turkish breakfast). It’s a wonderful way to immerse yourself in Turkish culture before heading out for a beach day or boat tour. Start your morning the Turkish way at Deniz Kapısı, a charming seaside restaurant in İçmeler where you can enjoy breakfast right by the water. Try to arrive before 11:00 AM to avoid the beach-goer crowd. A true Turkish breakfast is a relaxed, social experience: perfect for slowing down, enjoying the views, and lingering over tea and coffee. Expect a very generous spread that may include fresh bread, a variety of cheeses, olives, breakfast pastries, eggs, jams, honey, tomatoes, cucumbers, and endless Turkish tea. Pro tip: When ordering, ask for the "Classic Turkish Kahvaltı and Sucuklu Yumurta" (eggs with Turkish sausage). You won’t regret it!!
Felix Beach Marina is a chic, relaxed spot by the water offering delicious food, cocktails, and beautiful marina views. Perfect for a leisurely lunch, sunset drinks, or a stylish evening out with great music and a laid-back coastal vibe.
Although there are incredible daily shared boat tours with other travelers that typically run from 9:00 AM–6:00 PM (this is what we’ve done in the past and highly recommend, and what most visitors choose), which stop at 3–5 beautiful bays for swimming and include lunch, drinks available for purchase, and a full day of sunshine, turquoise water, and breathtaking scenery, guests who prefer a more private and luxurious experience may also explore renting a private boat or yacht. This website offers a variety of private boat and yacht rental options in and around Marmaris for a single day or multiple days! Please just be sure the harbor / pickup location is Marmaris when booking.
Want great coffee followed by a scenic stroll past boats, boutiques, and waterfront restaurants? This is your spot. Located near Old Town and the marina, Fredonia offers both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a rooftop with beautiful views of the town. It’s known as one of the most popular and delicious coffee spots in Marmaris.
