Portland International Jetport (Portland, ME) is the closest airport. It is about 1.5 hours from both our venue (Palermo, ME) and our room block (Camden, ME). However, it is a smaller airport and often requires a connection. Logan International Airport (Boston, MA) is recommended for those coming from the west coast that may want to spend a couple days either before or after the wedding exploring Boston or other areas of New England. For either airport, a rental car is recommended but there are also public transportation/bus options. For great deals on rental cars, we love using Turo.
Due to the nature of our venue (and for safety reasons), we are hoping to encourage our guests NOT to drive to our wedding. However, if this is something you would like to do, please reach out and we can accommodate.
Unfortunately, due to our remote location, Uber/Lyft is not a great option. While rideshare is available in the Camden area, it is not available from our venue in Palermo, ME. We will provide shuttle transportation for those staying on the lake AND from the Lord Camden Inn. If you wish to book an AirBnB in the Camden area, you are still more than welcome to take the shuttle from Lord Camden Inn.
Of course, if this is you're first trip to New England, we highly recommend spending a day or two in Boston! We love the Seaport District and the North End, but you really can't go wrong! If you're heading north from Boston to Maine, we also highly recommend both Kennebunkport and Portland as pit stops. Kennebunkport has beautiful ocean views and a quintessential Maine downtown (Lanni's family has vacationed at The Colony Hotel for many years - it's one of Blake's favorite New England places!). Portland is a great historical city with awesome harbor views and one of the best 'foodie' scenes! If you have extra time and feel like going even more north of our venue, we highly recommend a trip to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. It's beautiful in September!
