HOW WE MET

8.15.2015

Blake & Lanni met in August of 2015 during a blind/double date at a Slightly Stoopid & Dirty Heads concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. After suddenly moving to Mississippi for a new job, Scott Sommers (Blake's friend & groomsman) gave Blake 4 tickets to the concert since Blake was living in LA. Blake asked several friends and only one was able to go with him. That friend mentioned that he had been talking to a new girl - and thought maybe she could bring a friend!? Meanwhile, Lanni had only lived in LA full-time for a few months, and had plans to get dinner with an old friend that Saturday. A day or two before, Lanni got a text from her friend and asked if she wanted to go to a concert with a couple of guys instead... After some encouragement from her best friends back home, Lanni decided to go. We had a great night - singing, dancing, and definitely some drinking. And the rest was history!

The Proposal

12.28.2019

In December 2019, while back in Boston visiting Lanni's family for the holidays, we decided to spend one of our free days exploring the city and visiting some spots that Blake hadn't seen yet. We had plans to get dinner in the city that night with all of Lanni's close friends from high school and decided to make a day of it. After getting lobster rolls for lunch and walking through a few spots in the city, Blake suggested going to Christopher Columbus park for sunset because he heard it was filled with Christmas lights during this time. Knowing Blake loves Christmas lights and that the park was near the restaurant we were getting dinner at, Lanni didn't object! We walked through the park and towards the end, Blake said some very sweet words about our relationship (most of which neither of us remember!), and got down on one knee. Lanni immediately said 'YES!' and was in total shock when she saw her brother and his girlfriend hiding in the bushes and capturing the moment. After a celebratory rooftop drink, Blake kept the surprises going and insisted that our evening would consist of dinner with friends as planned and that we would see family tomorrow. Instead, we walked into the restaurant to be surrounded by so many friends and family! Lanni was so overwhelmed with shock and love! We had a great evening of sharing our story, having cocktails and appetizers, and then kept the fun going at a piano bar into the night! It was a day and night we will remember forever!
