We met through Tinder. I enjoyed chatting on the app but before Akil I didn't feel comfortable meeting up with strangers. The app connects to your Facebook and it told me we had some mutual friends. Most notably, he was friends with my older cousins Marlon and Daron. I reached out to them and discovered that they went to high school with him. My cousins vouched for him as a "good dude" and that gave me the confidence to say yes when he invited me out on our first date.

Apparently, we both swiped right sometime near the end of March 2014 and PRESTO a baby magically swiped right into our lives in 2019!!!!! Thanks to mutual connections after I lurked her Facebook digging for more info we went on our first date to go see Ziggy Marley DTLA. Prior to catching the train downtown, we sat in my kitchen at the table and talked and I remember thinking how beautiful her skin and face was. I kid ya'll not but there was a moment as I looked into her eyes that a voice popped up in my head and said, "she's going to have your baby!" Anyway, we had a great time at the concert and I was impressed that she personally knew the drummer and liked reggae. The hours passed and all was going well until we realized the last train had stopped running and we were stranded downtown on Figueroa and reduced to hanging out in Denny's praying frantically for a solution. I was so thinking she'd want to have nothing more to do with me for dropping the ball. Luckily I contacted a friend who introduced me to Uber and we made it home and eventually made a home in each other’s hearts.
