Things To Do

Western North Carolina has SO much to offer, especially in the fall. We are so excited to see you at the wedding but hope you can enjoy some of the beauty of Asheville and the surrounding areas while you are here. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to reach out and we will help you! Whether it’s hiking to the top of a mountain, going on a beautiful scenic drive, or exploring Asheville’s incredible breweries, there is something to do for everyone we’ve invited. Please take some of these suggestions of our favorite places but feel free to look into your own adventures, too!

Blue Ridge Bakery

86 West Main Street, Brevard, NC 28712
, (828) 883-8444

Jillian’s old place of employment and the bakery who is providing desserts for the reception. Open Monday through Friday, 7am-6pm.

Blue Ridge Parkway

3884 Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville, NC 28803

Take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, America’s favorite drive. An old military road used in the 1900s, the Parkway now serves as the most visited National Park. Fall is a great time to see the leaves changing on the parkway. Please be responsible and careful on the parkway, pull your car over to take pictures instead of stopping in the middle of the road and follow the speed limit.

Devil's Courthouse

Blue Ridge Parkway, Balsam Grove, NC 28708

The site of Jillian and Dave’s first kiss. This short but VERY steep hike attracts bird watchers, as it is a nesting site for Peregrine Falcons. The name comes from the legend that in caves underneath the overlook, the devil would conduct court.

Biltmore

1 Lodge Street, Asheville, NC 28803
, (800) 411-3812

Dave’s old place of employment and the largest privately owned home in America, the Biltmore Estate take you back in time to the 1900s. The estate boasts amazing colors in the fall and so many things to do- tour the house, attend a wine tasting, explore the estate via horseback.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

100 Sierra Nevada Way, Mills River, NC 28732
, (828) 681-5300

Built in 2009, the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Mills River, NC provides good food, great beer, and a relaxed atmosphere… probably with some live music.
