Flight
Flying into Florence and Pisa are both great options. A quick train ride from either city will bring you to Lucca. Rome is also an accessible airport and you can train from Rome to Lucca. The venue can be reached by train or car. FLR is 70 km/44 miles from Lucca. PSA is 35 km/22 miles from Lucca. FCO is 350 km/217 miles from Lucca.
Train
For guests opting not to rent a car, taking the train is an excellent option. The Italian train system is highly efficient and goes throughout the country. Trenitalia operates out of Florence, Pisa, and Rome. Florence to Lucca by train is 1 hour and 45 minutes. Pisa to Lucca by train is 50 minutes. Rome to Lucca by train is 3 hours and 30 minutes. You have the ability to pre-book your train tickets online, if you'd like. Booking opens 120 days before your date of travel. You can also purchase train tickets at the station, but may pay a slightly higher fare.
Hotel
There are a few great hotel options inside the city walls of Lucca. Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection (8 min walk to wedding venue). Hotel Palazzo Alexander (6 min walk to wedding venue). Palazzo Dipinto (6 min walk to wedding venue). Hotel Ilaria (11 min walk to wedding venue).
House Or Rental
Choosing to stay in an apartment/Airbnb inside the walls of Lucca is a great option for multiple guests to be together. You will be able to access everything in Lucca by foot. Villas are another amazing way to experience the Tuscan countryside. There are many villas ranging in size along the outskirts of the walled city. Travel Note
Uber is not generally used in Italy, and outside of larger cities taxis are hard to come by. To get around, you can use public transportation and your phone GPS to provide directions (it will tell you how to utilize trains as well). There is an app called "appTaxi", which is like Uber for Italy. Lucca will have taxi services that you can find by Googling.
Rental Car
Taxis and Ubers can be found from the airport to Lucca easily but traveling back would need to be scheduled in advance. You can book a private car to take you to and from the airport, which can be booked in advance. The venue is a 45 min drive from Florence Airport and a 30 min drive from the Pisa airport. There is very limited parking inside the walls of Lucca. If you have a rental car, you can park it outside of the walled city and walk in. This is a good option for guests opting to stay in a villa.
