We first saw each other one Sunday Mass at St. Thomas More in the Summer of 2023. For weeks, neither of us got up the courage to introduce ourselves, but eyed each other across the room. Finally, on the day Caroline had to return to Virginia for her fall semester, we introduced ourselves in whispers across pews, just minutes before daily Mass began. For the next 5 months we went about our fall semesters, but never forgot each other. In December, Caroline returned to Norman for Christmas Break. That Sunday, while sipping coffee in the parish hall after Mass, Jay's friends threatened that if he didn't go talk to her right then, he would be in big trouble. So Jay walked up with his friendly charm, and we instantly reconnected. The very next day after daily Mass, Jay stopped Caroline in the narthex (lobby) of the church and asked if he could take her to dinner. We began dating on January 11th, 2024. After over a year of dating, Jay asked Caroline to marry him at the same pew where it all started. And on January 3rd of 2026, at the altar just a few feet away, we will make our marital vows. The Lord continues to teach us so much through the practice of loving each other. Together, we have walked through seasons of joy, grief, stress, and the simple beauty of a growing love. It was God's gentle, directing hand in our lives that brought us together, and we look to Him as our gladness and strength. We are so excited to celebrate this holy sacrament with you all.
