There are three main International airports for travel to Ireland: Dublin, Cork, and Shannon. We expect Dublin and Cork to be the best options for getting to Killarney. Dublin is further away, but the most popular airport. Cork, although closer, will likely result in an additional connecting flight. When we checked flights on justfly.com to both Dublin and Cork the prices were very similar (about $800 roundtrip). It is a 4-hour drive from Dublin to Killarney and a 3:20 train ride (trains are popular/useful in Ireland). Cork is only a 1:25 drive/1:30 train trip. Buses are also an option. Lodging options abound in Killarney, as it is a tourism-based town surrounded by natural beauty. We plan to spend our nights at the Cahernane House, but the town of Killarney is home to quite a few alternatives that are less than a mile away.
